The sights and sounds of New York City during springtime.
Now that spring is well underway, it’s time to shed those winter layers and enjoy some of that much-appreciated warm weather. Luckily, in New York City there’s always exciting things to do, especially when it comes to the great outdoors. Hey, we’re not called The City That Never Sleeps for nothing!
A visit to Central Park offers the perfect escape from the hectic noise of city life and allows you to get back to nature. From scenic bike rides and horse-drawn carriage tours to an endless array of hiking trails, this park knows how to leave its visitors feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. Feel like making a day of it? How about a nice, tranquil picnic and a visit to the Central Park Zoo! When it comes to this place, no two visits are ever the same.
In keeping with the park theme, if you’re looking less for nature and more for an outdoor lounging experience with a great view, a trip to The High Line would be well worth your while. This once elevated freight rail line has since been transformed into a wonderful public park found in the Meatpacking District. Whether you just want to take a leisurely stroll through the greenery or would rather sit back and enjoy a gorgeous view of the Hudson River, this 1-mile terrain is a great place to get some fresh air and soak up a little sun. Entertainment buffs should jump at the chance to attend NYC’s 13th annual Tribeca Film Festival, which celebrates the variety of talents in film, music, and culture. Come watch as the downtown neighborhood transforms into a hub of glamorous red carpet events and gala affairs, featuring some of Hollywood’s best and brightest. The 11-day festival, which screens more than 100 films from around the world, will take place this year from 4/16-4/27. So get down there and start rubbing some serious A-list elbows!
