Mother May I?

Celebrate Mother’s Day with brunch, Broadway & bonding!

She was the one who fed you, clothed you, and gave you all the love you could handle. Now it’s time to return the favor and treat the mom in your life to a special day in Manhattan for Mother’s Day. We just so happen to have a few ideas…

Kick things off with a delicious brunch she’ll never forget at Sarabeth’s. From apple-cinnamon French toast to a wide assortment of eggs and omelets, this menu takes the idea of breakfast to a whole new level of greatness. And let’s not forget their signature Bloody Marys and White Peach Bellinis. ( Then there’s always Norma’s at Le Parker Meridien, which offers everything from super blueberry pancakes to Granny Smith Apple crepes. One trip here and she’ll be bursting with motherly affection. Literally. (119 W. 57th St.)

Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a trip to a Broadway matinee. For an afternoon full of laughter at the hand of a hilarious old matriarch, we recommend The Velocity of Autumn. It’s comic relief and family values at its finest. (222 W. 45th St.) But if an inspirational true story sounds more up your mother’s alley, she’ll enjoy the touching tale of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Either way, these powerful storylines and extraordinary vocals will leave you both begging for an encore performance. (124 W. 43rd St.)

And finally, a trip to Central Park’s Conservatory Garden would be the cherry atop this terrific day. Covering an impressive six-acres, the garden offers a truly spectacular array of floral displays that are arranged into three magnificent styles: English, French, and Italian. From smelling the spring tulips and lilac trees to admiring Walter Schott’s sculpture of the Three Dancing Maidens, there’s no limit to the amount of beauty to behold. This quiet, calm atmosphere is free from the distraction of runners and bicyclists, making it an ideal place for a relaxing stroll with someone special. (5th Ave. and 105th St.)

Suffice to say, the city is chock-full of fun things to do to show someone you care. But no matter what activity you choose, it’s guaranteed to be a day no mother could very soon forget. She’ll be bragging about this adventure to her friends for weeks to come!
